No more five-hour cap for verified Claude Ultra accounts. But weekly limits still apply.

A glowing passage opens through an inner barrier while an outer boundary remains, illustrating removal of verified Ultra’s five-hour cap with weekly limits still in place.

No more five-hour cap for verified Claude Ultra accounts. But weekly limits still apply.

Anthropic has renamed Max 5x to Max at $100 and Max 20x to Ultra at $200. It is removing the five-hour usage limit for verified Ultra accounts, while keeping weekly limits.

The practical distinction

Removing the five-hour limit could give verified Ultra users more room for sustained work within a session. It does not mean unlimited access: the weekly limit still constrains total use.

Think of it as removing one checkpoint while keeping the overall allowance. The change concerns how usage can be concentrated, rather than eliminating the boundary on usage altogether.

How to assess the $200 plan

The useful test is where a workflow runs into limits. For someone whose work is interrupted by the five-hour limit, its removal could matter. For someone who reaches the weekly limit, that constraint remains.

Assess Ultra against the limit that actually interrupts the work: removing a short-window restriction is useful only if the remaining weekly allowance fits the workload.
